rad-ideascaleBerkeley, July 1st, 2013 – IdeaScale, leading idea management software provider, is pleased to announce that it is providing the cloud-based crowdsourcing platform for the US Navy’s new initiative aimed at reducing administrative inefficiencies.

The project is titled Reducing Administrative Distractions (RAD) and works to collect and select feedback suggestions that will improve administrative operations from Navy employees at all levels (from junior sailors to commanding officers). All active-duty employees are eligible to participate under anonymous or properly named profiles. The program underwent a soft launch at the end of June and will be open for all users as of today.

Rear Admiral Herman Shelanski who is helping to launch the initiative has said, “It will give us a good indication… of what’s really making our sailors mad, plus set a course of actionable items in the weeks to come.” The first round of data collection will run throughout the month of July.

“IdeaScale has long defined itself in the field of digital engagement within government organizations since its launch in 2009,” said Rob Hoehn, CEO of IdeaScale, “Although we have helped federal agencies connect with their citizens, we also help agencies to advance their mission, source cost savings opportunities, improve efficiencies, and more with internal communities.”

Ideas (so far) comprise a range of issues, from badge access for facilities to email storage levels. Contributors of the top 20 implemented ideas will receive rewards for their suggestions.
